There has been a growing trend on social media where people have been breaking into Scientology buildings for fun. It has been coined Scientology speedrunning, where people attempt to break into the Church of Scientology buildings and record themselves to see how far they get in before getting caught. This all began from a viral video on TikTok from March 2026. This video took place at the Church of Scientology Information Center in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and was posted by a TikToker named isDurpyy. TikToker Swhileyy has also replicated these videos and collaborated with isDurpyy.
In Vancouver, Canada, a group of about 300 people gathered outside the Church of Scientology building on May 2. These teenagers attempted to storm the facility, but they were stopped by police. In Manhattan, New York, about 25 people broke into a Church of Scientology building and allegedly damaged property and injured a staff member on that same day.
David Bloomberg, a Scientology spokesperson, said, “Church facilities are peaceful spaces designed to welcome parishioners, visitors and members of the public. Turning them into targets for viral stunts is not journalism, protest or civic activity. It is trespass, harassment and disruption of religious facilities.”
In response to the recent incidents, TikTok creator Swhileyy also denounced the Scientology speedrunning trend. He said, “I do not condone what I did, even though I didn’t break any laws. I never once in any video or comment section or anywhere promoted the idea of running through there or beating my record.”
Leah Remini, a former member of the Church of Scientology, said, “If someone is brainwashed for years into believing the outside world is filled with dangerous lunatics who wish to impede Scientology, a group of people running through a Scientology building is only going to confirm that belief and lead them to dedicate themselves even more to the cause they believe in.” She is a known critic of Scientology and thinks that this trend is actually helping them.
As a result of this trend, the Church of Scientology has increased their security and reported these incidents to the police. In their Hollywood building, they have even removed the door handles and restricted public entry. Whether you agree or disagree with the Church of Scientology, it is clear that this trend has incited violence and vandalism.
