Halloween is the one time of the year where you get to dress up, receive candy and get scared. The weather gets cooler and the nights are longer, so it is the perfect time to hang out in the evening. Southern California has so many great events to celebrate the spooky holiday. Here are my top three places to spend time with friends and family for Halloween.
Starting off with Universal Studios Hollywood Horror Nights, you can immerse yourself in the worlds of iconic horror movies and shows. Hollywood Horror Nights is Universal Studios’ annual Halloween-themed event located in Universal City, where you get to go through movie set-quality haunted houses and ride on classic Universal Studios rides. Some of the haunted house themes they have for this year are “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” “Terrifier,” “Jason Universe” and “Poltergeist.” They themed the Studio Tour into “Terror Tram: Enter the Blumhouse,” where you get to see popular Blumhouse villains like M3GAN. There are also two shows that you can watch to rest from walking around the theme park. HHN also has scare zones with great scare actors and themed food and merchandise. Ticket prices range from $70 to $100 for general admission and the event starts at 7 p.m..
Knott’s Scary Farm is considered one of the longest-running Halloween theme park events in Southern California. The Halloween themed event includes: unique haunted mazes and attractions, sinister shows and more than 1,000 scare actors. Some of the mazes at Knott’s Scary Farm are The Zoo, Mary: The Haunting of Worth Home, Eight Fingers Nine: The Boogeyman and Origins: The Curse of Calico. They also have three shows with haunting performances. Knott’s Scary Farm also has seasonal food and merchandise. A general admission ticket starts at $69 and there are passes and tours available. The hours for this event are from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. and it is located in Buena Park.
If scaring is not your thing and you have younger siblings, Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch is a perfect family-friendly experience. When you think of Halloween, pumpkin carving might pop up in your head. At Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch, there are fun activities like an inflatable slide, a straw bale maze, a petting zoo, pumpkin decorating and more. This place is geared towards younger kids and families. There is an admission fee ranging from $10 to $25 and their hours vary from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the activities are also a separate price with passes available for purchase. Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch is located in Culver City and has been a family favorite in LA for generations.
