Knock knock! If you have watched the two anime suggested in the last issue, which were Re:Zero: Starting Life in Another World Season 3 and Blue Lock Season 2, more anime are releasing in November for entertainment. One of the most anticipated releases is Murder Mystery of the Dead.
Murder Mystery of the Dead, produced by ABC Animation and Balus, premiered on Nov. 7. . The plot takes place in a dystopian world, where the main characters struggle to survive. Previously populated by humans, the world is now occupied by zombies, and characters are asked to deal with these new creatures who they have never seen before.
On top of the zombie pandemic, the protagonist Mikoto Amano lost her memories. The storyline continues to unfold when she joins her companions—six girls who are trapped in similar situations—but this relief is soon collided by the death news of a man who was initially rescued with Mikoto. Who murdered the man? Who is the next target? These questions suffocate both the characters and the audience. In this dystopian world, no one is safe; none of them is trustworthy.
The anime touches on the themes of supernatural and suspenseful suspicion, all at the same time combine to form an illustration of humanity. Is it a right choice for Mikoto to join the other six girls as her companions? The answer is a clear “yes” if the plot is set in an ordinarily functioning world. But in this zombie-populated, dystopian world, it becomes less clear that a “yes” is the right choice. Everyone is trying to survive in a world full of danger, which makes companionship less important. Who is willing to sacrifice for companionship? Watching this anime will answer the question.
In combining survival horror with psychological thriller, characters are trapped in the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower. The Tower soon becomes the symbol for a sanctuary and a prison, which matches the paranoia status of the characters. What is the mystery of the dead, as the name of the anime suggests? Only by watching will the darkest side of the anime be revealed.
