Back in the day, when fast food was at its golden age, many items fans craved were discontinued, such as the “McDonald’s Snack Wrap” or the “Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco.” With numerous fast food chains reintroducing their old discontinued items, KFC fans have been petitioning for the return of their ’90s menu items as well.
After years of customer demand, KFC couldn’t resist and finally brought back several fan favorites, including their potato wedges, chicken and waffles, and, most notably, their original honey BBQ sauce. This sauce, which was a staple in the late ’90s, became a fan favorite to pair with crispy wings. However, it was short-lived and was discontinued shortly after the early 2000s. If you’re unfamiliar with the sauce, try the Original Honey BBQ Combo, which features two pieces of juicy, extra-crispy fried chicken tossed in that sauce, along with a side of biscuits and a medium drink of your choice.
In addition to the honey BBQ sauce, KFC has also introduced a variety of other popular flavors, including Sticky Chicky Sweet ‘n Sour Sauce, KFC Sauce, and Buffalo Ranch.
To celebrate the return of this beloved sauce, KFC also brought back its ’90s pricing for a limited time, making it a steal, though a costly move for the company. For example, items like their KFC Chicken Sandwich, which comes with pickles, a choice of spicy or non-spicy mayo, and a brioche bun, are priced at just $3.99—a price not seen in over a decade.
KFC has proven excellent at listening to its customers’ requests and reintroducing discontinued menu items while lowering prices. However, despite these popular returns, some items, like the “KFC UK Stuffing Stacker,” remain discontinued.
Do you think KFC should continue to bring back more finger-lickin’ good items, or should we be satisfied with the current offerings?
