In recent history, we have seen successful assassinations, unsuccessful assassination attempts, and plots against the people in and out of office. The most recent of which was toward former United States President Donald J. Trump. On July 13th, 2024, he was shot at by Thomas Matthew Crooks who was on a rooftop near Trump’s campaign rally by Butler, Pennsylvania. Donald Trump would’ve died if he had not moved his head to avoid a fatal injury. The assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks had instead killed an audience member, Corey Comperatore, and injured Donald Trump and the two other audience. Former President Trump decided to stand up with blood on his ear and face with his fist up in the air and said “Fight! Fight! Fight!” Donald Trump then went on to a nearby hospital and made a full recovery. As for what happened to Thomas Matthew Crooks, he had been shot and killed immediately by the U.S. Secret Service’s counter sniper team, his motives are still being investigated by the F.B.I. to this day. The current theory is that Thomas Matthew Crooks was just looking for a highprofile target to shoot at. He didn’t have any political views on anyone. This was shown by his internet searches on both Joe Biden and Donald Trump. He was searching for targets near his location so he could commit an assassination on a high profile target.
There have been four successful assassinations, the most recent of which was of Late President, John F. Kennedy. He was in a motorcade held in Dallas, Texas on Friday, November 22nd, 1963. He was shot and killed by Lee Harvey Oswald who had used a powerful bolt action rifle to commit this act. There were many efforts to save the president, but Kennedy was presumed dead on that same day. The murderer was also killed by Jack Ruby, which means we do not know his motive. Jack Ruby was then charged with the death of Oswald and died in 1967 while awaiting a new trial. Three presidents, including Donald Trump, have been wounded from assassination attempts. The motive that currently stands is that he lacked self-esteem and wanted to be the center of attention. He did receive this attention for being the center of attention after killing President Kennedy. He didn’t live long enough to receive the attention he wanted so badly as Jack Ruby killed him.
Sixteen different presidents that were involved in assignation plots them. The three most recent of which was towards Joe Biden, Donald Trump, and Barack Obama. The most recent plot was on September 15th, 2024, Donald Trump was playing golf when a man by the name of Ryan Wesley Routh was pointing a semi-automatic rifle towards Donald Trump. He didn’t take any shots, but the Secret Service saw it as a threat and shot at him. He then ran away and was eventually detained without resistance. Nobody was harmed in this plot.
