Exciting news! More K-dramas are releasing on Netflix in September, including Romance in the House and Love Next Door. Romance in the House features popular artists such as Son Na-eun (member of Apink), Choi Min-ho (member of SHINee), and Yoon San-ha (member of Astro). Its storyline starts off with character Byun Moo Jin going bankrupt, which causes his wife, Geum Ae Yeon, to divorce him. When their children—Mi Rae and Hyun Jae—grow up, their different personalities turn the household chaotic. The focus of the drama arrives when Moo Jin finally returns to the family, revealing that he has now become the owner of the building the divorced family lives in. Making matters worse, Moo Jin is determined to reunite with his family. Upon hearing about Moo Jin’s return and his desire, his children–Mi Rae and Hyun Jae–have conflicting reactions due to their opposing personalities. Mi Rae, who is mature and has the goal of taking care of her mother, opposes Moo Jin’s request to reunite. On the other hand, Hyun Jae, who is always seen as the troublemaker in the family, happily welcomes Moo Jin’s desire to reunite.
Love Next Door also features famous actors and actresses, such as Jung Hae In and Jung So Min. The storyline talks about unparalleled success and failure, making this drama more than mere romance. Bae Seok Ryu (Jung So Min) is shown to be a successful individual who has never had a taste of failure. When she received her job in a global corporation, though, she failed her position as a project manager. Feeling the impending doom rising in her, she reunites with Choi Seung Hyo (Jung Hae In) and restarts her life with her old friend.
While both K-dramas are in the romance genre, they both touch on sides of humanity that people often overlook, such as the role of wealth in a relationship (demonstrated in “Romance in the House”) and the balance between success and failure (shown in “Love Next Door.”) There are many more K-dramas spanning different genres releasing on Netflix in September.
