“PEAK” is a co-op climbing game that has exploded in popularity this summer. Developed by Team Peak and initially published on June 16, 2025 by Aggro Crab Games and Landfall Games, it is an exciting indie, action-adventure game. Available only on Steam, a game distribution platform, you can play by yourself or with friends.
The main story of the game is that you are a nature scout on a plane that has crashed landed on a deserted island and must climb to the mountain’s peak to get rescued. There are different biomes on the mountain that you have to pass through: Shore, Tropics, Alpine, Caldera and The Kiln. Shore has a beachy mountain with coconut trees, Tropics has a jungle filled with vines, Alpine contains slippery ice and snowstorms, Caldera has rising lava and The Kiln includes very small ledges with a stone bridge.
However, the developers have recently added a new biome called Mesa that switches with the Alpine biome at random. Along the way, there are deserted luggage filled with helpful items to assist in your journey. But beware: there are dangers such as stinging jellyfish, cold winters, tornadoes and lava that will make your expedition much more difficult. “PEAK” is enjoyable to play multiple times because the game’s map changes every 24 hours. More difficult levels are also unlocked after the completion of the game.
An important feature of the game is that you have a stamina bar that you must watch out for when climbing, and you only have a three-item inventory space with the exception of a backpack that carries an extra four items. You are also able to customize your character’s color, hat and outfit. By completing achievements, you can show off your badges on your scout sash and unlock a ton of cosmetics.
Surprisingly, there were over 100,000 copies of the game sold in the first 24 hours of release. On Steam, the game costs $7.99 and there are about 116,000 very positive reviews in all languages with over 69,000 of them being in English. At four and a half stars, you will be sure to find some enjoyment from playing this game. Players say that “the game is fun and engaging” and that it is “the perfect semi-casual co-op experience you can find.”
As a surprising new game that has taken over the video game market, “PEAK” has been at the top of people’s lists of chill go-to games. “PEAK” is currently only available on Windows, but it might come to console in the future. This goes to show that you don’t have to be a part of a huge company to make successful and fun games!
