Taco Bell is taking customers back in time with its nostalgic limited edition lineup called “the Decades Y2K Menu.” The menu is packed with comebacks from the early 2000s that were top hits during its time on the menu. It was released nationwide mid-2025, giving Taco-Bell fans a flavor blast from the past.
The Y2K-themed section includes many returning classics such as the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco, 7-Layer Burrito, Double Decker Taco, Chili Cheese Burrito, and their Caramel Apple Empanada. Each item brings back memories of Taco Bell’s early days, when these bold flavors took over everyone’s taste buds.
According to Taco Bell’s official announcement, the Decades Menu is part of a bigger project, to highlight their 62-year history. The Y2K edition focuses on the early 2000s which was a time of chunky hair highlights, flip phones, and of course, Cool Ranch Doritos. The nostalgia-focused marketing isn’t just about all the fun, but it is also about business. It revives the discontinued favorites for new gems to try, while also appealing to millennials who grew up eating these menu items. Gen Z and other younger generations may also be curious about how fast food tasted back then, which is why this menu may appeal to them.
The return of the Chili Cheese Burrito has been a fan favorite which had disappeared from the menu years ago. Some social media users have shared this excitement and bonded over such a small yet significant change in the menu. Some were even calling it a “2000s dream come true.” Others have even asked to make these menu items permanent again.
The nostalgic comeback isn’t just limited to food as Taco Bell also released Y2K merchandise and an app-based virtual pet. The pet’s name is “Crunchkin” which customers can feed with menu purchases in order to get prizes.
For many taco bell lovers, the menu isn’t just a meal, but an all rounded experience. It’s a reminder that the best flavors may be ones we’ve already had.
