Viral sensation “IShowSpeed” also known as Speed, is currently one of the biggest streamers at the moment sitting at approximately 44.7 million YouTube subscribers and over 2.4 million followers on Twitch. Speed’s main streaming platform is Twitch, however, he also has a big streaming presence on platforms like YouTube and Kick. Alongside his streamer title, Speed also creates music and has had hits like “Shake”, “World Cup” and “Head Shot / Gas In The Truck.”
On March 24 of this year, Speed embarked on his trip to China where he began his two week livestream tour across different cities in China. During his tour in China, Speed met Lin Jiang, whom everyone refers to as “Uncle.” Their first interaction was of Uncle trying to give Speed cooked goose from his hometown Rongchang which is located in the district of Chongqing, China in hopes of bringing traction towards his hometown. Uncle travels following Speed and buying food at his own expense.
Throughout Speed’s livestreams where he visits multiple cities, Uncle is seen in the background with his bright red coat. Speed remembers Uncle and soon enough, Uncle is seen spending more time with Speed on these live streams. Unlike many others, the relationship between the two is sincere. There are multiple instances showcasing this, for example, they had visited a store and instead of Speed paying, Uncle paid for all of their items. In multiple occasions where they are seen eating, Uncle is always feeding Speed and taking care of him. It can be seen through these livestreams that the two have created a genuine bond and connection. When Uncle was being mistreated by business owners and show hosts, netizens got upset for him and criticized the show and business for their treatment towards Uncle.
Digging deeper, netizens have found that Uncle is a local celebrity who promotes businesses, supports local farmers, and does charity work. During the pandemic, Uncle donated supplies to sanitation workers as well as funds to help out during the 2023 Hebei floods and 2025 Tibet earthquake. With this new found knowledge, fans globally began to love Uncle’s character even more and support him.
