Watching Christmas movies is basically a tradition. It is a joyous feeling and memory to get in front of the television with your family or friends with snacks, pillows, and blankets. There are many Christmas movies to watch but these are three movies that you must watch this Christmas.
Starting off strong is the movie Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Despite these being separate movies, you should watch both on the same day. Home Alone came out on November 6, 1990, followed by Home Alone 2: Lost in New York which came out on November 15, 1992. Both movies follow the protagonist Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) and the antagonists Harry and Marv (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern). In the first movie, Kevin was forgotten by his family who left in a rush for their family holiday in Paris. In the second movie, Kevin follows a random man he thought was his father into the wrong airplane and ends up in New York. These family films give adventure, comedy, action and drama with a rating of 7.7/10 on IMDb, 66% on tomatometer, and 80% on popcornmeter from Rotten Tomatoes.
Secondly, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This movie is an adaptation of a children’s tale by Dr. Seuss. The Grinch, played by Jim Carrey, is an isolated green character that lives on the outskirts of Whoville. The Grinch hates Christmas every year because the Whos, residents of Whoville, would celebrate loudly. Hating the cheers and lively atmosphere, the Grinch decides to steal Christmas from the people of Whoville. So at night he and his dog, Max, goes house to house to steal Christmas trees, presents, decorations, and stockings. His plan seems to be going smoothly until he comes across a little girl named Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen). How the Grinch Stole Christmas was released on November 17, 2000 and is a comedy, action, and family movie. It has a ratings of 6.3/10 on IMDb and 49% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Last but not least, The Polar Express is an animated adventure film. The movie follows a young boy’s journey to the north pole on a train. A young boy doubts the existence of Santa Claus, then is awoken by a train whistle right outside his house. Walking to the train, he sees a conductor who asks if he is going to hop aboard. Confused, the boy asks where the train is going. The conductor replies by saying the North Pole and with that the boy agrees and is taken on an adventurous trip to Santa’s headquarters. On the journey, he makes friends and learns an indispensable lesson about the true Christmas spirit. The Polar Express was released on November 10, 2004 and is a family, action, and adventure style movie. It has a review of 6.6/10 on IMDb and 56% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and The Polar Express are all amazing movies and should be on your must watch list.
